Perennial Favorite, Fond Memory

Today, I donned a pair of Bass Weejuns, sans socks, even in the chill that's fallen upon this part of the country. Ordinarily, I would not have been so brazen as to attempt to go sockless in the coldest weather since February, but the thought of putting on shoes AND socks (or worse, shoes with laces and socks!) makes me hurt. I started working out with a new trainer on Tuesday and after two sessions, I now recognize that there are muscles that I never knew I had. I know they're there because I can feel them...now. And boy are they sore! But I digress.

I pulled out the Weejuns from the shoe rack and slipped them on and was reminded of the two pairs I had as a child. I had the standard oxblood Weejuns as well as a navy blue pair. I've never been prouder of a pair of shoes. I loved those shiny loafers and wore them with all sorts of outfits. Skirts, pants, dresses. I'm sure I would have worn them with my pajamas if I'd thought about it.

The pair I have now is a modernized version. If you're so inclined, someone is selling the same pair on ebay. They still go with just about anything and are a dressier alternative to the boat shoe. Today, I wore them with a pale pink Polo oxford shirt (an old favorite), a beige quarter-zip Brooks Brothers sweater (a fantastic ebay find), Joes Jeans (also a great ebay find), and my fabulous new belt from Three Chickadees (I won it in Lisa's blog giveaway. I'll post pictures as soon as the cord to my camera is located. I promise).

The Weejuns could quite possibly be my go-to shoe for the day after a workout with the trainer. If the first two days are any indication, I'll be wearing them a lot!

I love Weejuns! I have worn them my whole life - even when they weren't as popular. I have a pair of the tasseled weejuns. Boy I would love to get my hands on a pair of the navy blue ones! That was the most beautiful shade of blue!!

I agree! I wish I could get a pair now, but I haven't been able to find them. I'll keep my fingers crossed for both of us!
