I have never been one to back down from a challenge. I jumped from our backyard tree fort on a dare when I was five. In my youth, I cut down the Christmas tree every year, even though I knew it would take my small hands forever. I ran several races with no training (and paid for it in pain for days!) I went to law school 1300 miles away from home. Tell me it can't be done and I'll do it.
But now, there is a new challenge. Recently, I got into a debate with a friend over whether or not a truly preppy outfit of substantial quality could be purchased secondhand. Ever the eco-friendly advocate, I took this on as a project. As I do with all projects, I made a plan. I recruited my 17 year old brother to be the willing model for the outfits I hope to assemble. Then, I searched for inspiration. I came across a slideshow on The New York Times website that inspires me. I'm going for "updated classic casual".
I'm going for something like this:
So stay posted! The challenge officially begins next week, but I was so excited that I just had to share with you!!!

That is so funny that you recommended Cafe Du Monde to me. Hello?! I am from New Orleans! All of my family still lives there and I go back a couple of times a year. Of course I've been to Cafe Du Monde many times--YUM! There is also Morning Call in Metairie which is similar. :-)
Mos def keep us posted!!
what fun! can't wait to see what you come up with!
This can't be too difficult; in fact, with exception of boxers and khakis, most days I wear at least one item that came from either Ebay or the thrift store. This includes Brooks Brothers oxford cloth shirts, tweed jackets, ties (it is fairly easy to find $2 Brooks Brothers ties at the thrift store), and even shoes. Even my Barbour jackets were all purchased second hand. Good luck with your challenge.
