Music with a Preppy Twist

Throughout my adult life, I've worked in various facets of the entertainment industry in a number of different capacities. In college, I worked for a community theater and an organization that booked on-campus concerts. In grad school, I did time at a film production company. During law school, I gave my blood, sweat and tears to a nonprofit legal clinic for artists, a radio station, a publishing company and an artist management firm. That being said, it is fair to point out that it takes a lot to impress me in the way of music or movies (which likely explains my affinity for older movies and films). Recently, I started listening to Vampire Weekend. The music is peppy and fun, but easy on the ears, so I liked them instantly. And I liked them after a week. And I still liked them after a month. And then I saw a picture of the band and I fell...in...love. Polo oxfords and Sperry Topsiders mix easily onstage with amps and guitars. Drumsticks and fisherman sweaters mingle, while cardigans and basslines hum along together. Lend them your ear and you might just fall in love too!

In the music industry, the litmus test of a band's success is their propensity for longevity. The longer a band lasts, the better it works out for everybody. So will Vampire Weekend be around for a while? If their fashion sense is any indication, you betcha they will!

It’s not often that I find an album that I can listen to from start to finish over and over—but this one was on repeat when I discovered them! I’m a big fan of their music and now I can equally appreciate their style too… thanks for sharing the pic!
